There is a version of the Amalfi Coast that exists only from the sea. Not the version you see from the SS163 — that road’s views are extraordinary and well-documented — but the other one: the underside of the cliffs, the mouths of sea caves that appear between headlands without warning, the fiordi carved so deep into the rock that the light inside them changes colour.
